  • Twitter is ideal for having conversations with people you wouldn’t normally have a chance to talk to.
  • A tweet can feel more natural than a cold call or an email out of the blue.

  • Use hangout: Once you have mad connections on G+, you can use Google Hangouts to chat with up to 9 people at a time. Hangouts can easily turn into group video calls that you can stream on Youtube.

  • G+ does not require users to use their real names, if you’re using the platform to expan your business network, avoid using a pseudonym on your G+ page.

Linkedin offers a number of different filters for you to use when trying to find connections, such as job title, company, school and more.
  • Make your profile easiser for people to find by optimizing your keywords: fill out the description parts of your profile as much as you can and be sure to use relevant keywords to your position and industry.
  • See who’s investigated your page: linkedin allows you to see: who’s visited your profile page, how your profile page compars to (your connections, people you work with and other people in your industry), use this information as icebreaker when contacting people.
  • Ask for introductions: Linkedin gives you the option to request an introduction from a contact that you and another person have in common. These introductions have no charater limit, while typical messages are limited to 300 characters. If you’d like to connect with someone but feel uncomfortable contaction them directly, try to fing someone on Linkedin who can introduce you.

Keep in mind:

  • You do not need to have a first-degree connection with someone to message them, if you are both a part of the same group.
  • Joining groups makes it easier to connect with people because of: social reasons – you have an interest in common, technological reasons – linkedin lets you bypass a common restriction.
